We are Zama Zama is the core of a larger project devoted to the exploration of forms and

methods for telling the stories of those who live in the precarious zone of the abandoned gold

mines in southern Africa.

The feature documentary is both more expansive and more narrative than the shorter experimental

works that also form part of ‘The Zama Zama Project’, which was an official selection of the Berlinale

Forum Expanded, in 2021.
